ICF YOUTH

If you thought that the International Congregational Fellowship was only for older people you would really be mistaken!

ICF Youth has been an important aspect of the life of ICF over the years and at our Quadrennial Conferences run their own parallel programme, though with opportunity for both groups to get together for various events.  ICF really does have a wonderful family feeling to it.  We share together and learn together.

During the 2009 ICF Conference in Milwaukee we went together to watch a baseball game with the local team: The Brewers.  The evening began with a barbecue in the car park before the game began.  Visitors from overseas were fascinated by the fun and games taking place among the many hundreds of cars with people of all ages.  Hot dogs, burgers, salad and pasta were washed down with various beverages before we joined the 41,000 others watching the game that evening.

While we always enjoy mixing the generations it is important that the youth have opportunity to explore their faith within their own culture.  This includes precious time of fellowship, uplifting times of worship, and challenging Bible based ministry with practical workshops.

The youth from various countries often build lasting friendships as they come to appreciate one another's culture and how that affects theoilogical understanding.

KOrean Youth demonstrate their culture KOrean Youth demonstrate their culture

In one of our recent Conferences Christian young people from Korea treated the whole conference to a display of some of the amazing aspects from their culture.

This included taekwondo (marshal art), some very impressive traditional drumming, and exquisitely beautiful traditional Korean dancing.  It was a wonderful expression of some of the best things in life that give us a glimpse into God's creatveness.

ICF Members stunned by death of Steve de Gruchy

On 23rd February news that Steve had been involved in a rafting accident in South Africa and that his body was missing was rapidly circulated around the Fellowship.  On 24th February we learned that he was now formally presumed dead and that a funeral service would be held on Saturday afternoon 27th February.  Steve's body was subsequently found in the Mool River by police divers. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Adding New Languages

The ICF News Sheet is now available in Spanish thanks to former members of the Congregational Church in Herstmonceux, England.  It is hoped that the Latin America page of this website will go bi-lingual shortly, with news from the Region included.

We have hopes for translations of the News Sheet into Greek, Arabic and Korean before the end of the year!
